We decided to do a story on what we thought were our Top 10 Xbox 360 Games ever released. What followed was much debating, and a few broken bones. Some members wanted this game here and that game there, but thankfully we were able to figure it out. We have complied a list of the Top 10 games based on graphics, gameplay, story, sound, longevity, innovation, and plain ol’ fun.

Now here it is, Live 360’s Top 10 Xbox 360 Games!

Number 10

  • Rock Band

Guitar? Check. Bass? Check. Drums? Check. Singer? Check.

Harmonix has one-upped Guitar Hero big time. The ability to have a band with 3 of your friends sounds good on paper, but it is even better when you actually do it. Rocking out with 3 of your friends, off or online is one of the funnest gaming experiences available. And while there are not that many great songs on the disk, there has been new songs released every week via DLC. Rockband may be expensive but it definitely deserves a spot on this list.

Number 9

  • Bioshock

In August 2007, the world was introduced to Rapture, an underwater Utopia gone wrong. The first thing you probably noticed playing Bioshock, was the amazing graphics and the rich environments. From the green house-ish Arcadia, to Andrew Ryan’s base, the environments were breathtaking. And those environments weren’t boring, they were filled with a wide selections of Splicers and of course, the Big Daddys. After the demo we thought this would be the best 360 game, but however it is not. There is no multiplayer so you are forced to play the campaign which lasts only about 8 hours, and then after that, nothing. There is really no replay value and while you do get 8 hours of amazement, that is just not enough to be #1 on our list.

Number 8

  • Chromehounds

Surprise, Surprise. We couldn’t just let them all be exactly what you expected. Chromehounds was released at the beginning of July 2006, and was definitely overshadowed by GRAW and Oblivion, the two games which showed what the 360 was really capable of. Many gamers were turned off by the single player demo, and no, it didn’t exactly get better in the final version. The single player campaign was pretty much just there as a filler. Why exactly is on this list then? It’s simple; Multiplayer. The multiplayer was a persistent world which pitted 3 nations against each other. You got to fully customize your Hound from the tracks it had, to the weapons, color, cockpit, everything you could even think of. The amount of customization was astonishing. And of course, if its on this list, the gameplay was fun. And yes, it was fun, crazy fun. And the plain ol’ fun factor is why Chromehounds is Number 8 on our list.

Number 7

  • Rainbow Six: Vegas

‘Vegas is getting a wake up call’, that was their slogan, and boy, and it sure did. Ubisoft did an amazing job recreating the city we have all come to know and love. Riding in a helicopter seeing Casinos getting blown up, fighting through Fremont Street, and even fighting on the Nevada Dam. The single player campaign was full of great moments, but there were some not so great moments, such as the entire first scene(The Mexico Mission). The thing that shined most was the multiplayer aspect of the game. Rainbow Six: Vegas was the first 360 game to tamper with having you’re own character with the gear and weapons you have unlocked. You could even recreate your own face and put it on your guy. And, hey, the gameplay was amazing as well. Vegas was one of the first multiplayer heavyweights on the Xbox 360.

Number 6

  • GRAW2

Speaking about multiplayer heavyweights, GRAW2 was also one, in more ways than one. GRAW2 came back with all new maps for the adversarial modes, and most importantly they came out with another Co-Op campaign. Bring 15 friends and fight through 6 missions however you want. These missions never got old, and Ubisoft has since released 2 more Co-Op Campaigns. What about the real campaign? Well, it obviously it builds on the first GRAW’s story; stop rebels in Mexico from stealing nukes and launching them on the US. Standard stuff, but the way Ubisoft pulls it off is mindblowing. The graphics are downright spectacular and the weather effects and explosions are equally amazing. There are some hectic missions that are just downright bad ass. GRAW2 definitely built on its predecessor.

Number 5

  • Gears Of War

When Gears Of War came out, everyone wanted it for its graphics. The graphics were clearly the best the 360 had ever seen, and some people thought it was going to be all looks no gameplay. That was far from the truth. Gears of War puts you in the shoes of Marcus Fenix and pits you and your team against the Locus Horde, an alien race hidden in the core of the planet. Other than that the story doesn’t get much deeper, which is a shame, but still, gameplay is really what matters. Gears Of War perfected the cover system and gave you plenty of fun missions to complete. And if that wasn’t enough, the kind folks at Epic gave us a freaking chainsaw bayonet. And what’s the best use for it? Killing people on Xbox Live. The mutiplayer is only 4 on 4 which is surprisingly enough and makes for some great matches. The mutiplayer is very strategic and fun, but suffers due to many glitches and few game modes.

Number 4

  • Mass Effect

Mass Effect. This game sucked us in the second we started playing. You can fully customize your Shepard and you can choose what skills you want. Standard RPG stuff. But the amazing graphics, fun gameplay, tough gameplay decisions, and mind boggling great story made for a great game. You are the first human Spectre and you must stop a rouge Spectre from releasing the Reapers, a sentient machine race that has wiped out all advanced life forms every 50,000 years since the dawn of time. You must unravel the mystery and stop the largest genocide ever. The story is one of the best ever told in a videogame and the way it is told through a variety of character conversations, cutscenes, and text is amazing. The only thing holding Mass Effect back is lame side quests, and a lack of replayability. Mass Effect is 20 hours of shock and awe, but, unfortunately,  just like Bioshock, after you beat the campaign there is really nothing to do after that.
Number 3

  • Call Of Duty 4

I don’t think I need to go into how amazing this game is, but there was much debate over this. Call of Duty 4 or Halo 3? Both are great shooters, but one had to be higher. Call Of Duty has better graphics, and a better ranking system. Halo has a longer campaign, forge, co-op, and allows guests. And while Call Of Duty 4’s campaign is full of breathtaking moments, it is just too short. And in the end we decided to give Halo the better sopt.

Number 2:

  • Halo 3

As we all know Halo 3 is the last entry in the Halo trilogy where Master Chief must stop Truth from destroying the galaxy. The game is ended perfectly and makes you feel all fuzzy inside after completing the story to what you started back in 2001. And Halo 3 has this spot because, as I said before, the campaign is longer than COD4’s and you are able to play through it with 3 other friends, which is tons of fun. The multiplayer aspect is the standout with Forge, the Theater, and the always amazing matchmaking.

Hmmm…..we’ve already showed Bioshock, Mass Effect, Call of Duty 4, and Halo 3. What could our number one game possibly be?

Here it is, Live-360’s #1 Xbox 360 Game!

Number 1

  • The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. This is our #1 game. Why? Because it embodies everything we were looking for.

Graphics, gameplay, story, sound, longevity, innovation, and plain ol’ fun.

That is what we said we were looking for, and that’s what we got. Saving Tameriel from the jaws of Oblivion and finding the heir to the throne made for an amazing story that was just full of great experiences and fun. Plus the guilds each added about 15 hours of additional fun and story. Nothing was rushed, nothing was boring, just running from one side of the map to the other killing stuff and exploring was jaw dropingly amazing. I can’t say amazing enough to describe this game. 200+ hours of great gaming experiences is all a game needs to be our #1 game.

So there you have it folks, Live-360’s Top 10 Xbox 360 Games. Thanks for reading, and come back soon for all the 360 news that you need to know.

  1. Interesting selection - but I dont agree in a million years that CoD 4 is behind Halo 3. Halo 3 was a good game but compared to CoD it really was beaten badly
