When you looked at the title of the entry, you probably smelled something was fishy. An editor on a 360 site that hates Halo? That is somewhat true and somewhat false. In fact, I hated Halo for most of the time I’ve owned a 360 and been interested in the 360. Being a new 360 owner as of July, I never considered playing Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, or Halo 3. Sounds like blasphemy yes, but it is the truth.
A Change Of Heart
I was bored one day and decided to download the Halo demo for Windows XP. Now, this is such a crappy game I do not know where to begin. The graphics are even worse than the XBOX ones in my opinion. However the game was oddly fun but boring seeing as I have a gaming PC, and I could play something better such as Half-Life 2. I rented Halo for XBOX later that day and I was blown away by not only the cut scenes, but the in game graphics compared to those of the Wii. I got up to level 4 on campaign, and the disc wouldn’t load past that. Junk; that was my initial thought. Such a fun game that was ending for me right here. I went on YouTube, Google, and Halo Fansites, and finally found a good synopsis of the rest of the game.
$30 Less in the Bank
The day after Halo 3’s release, I was slightly bummed I couldn’t afford it. It has completely taken over XBOX Live. However, I did find Halo 2 on XBOX for $30 that day. I picked it up, and even with Halo 3 on Live, there are still a solid 14,000 players online. I am currently up to the Halo Delta level, and it is very good; better than Halo due to the better cut scenes, longer level, and better level design. I mean come on, you cannot deny that after playing Halo Combat Evolved the majority of the levels look exactly the same. I am starting to get decent at XBOX Live as well.
Yesterday I went over to a friend’s house to hang out. I started playing Halo 2 for Vista there (hehe, he actually bought Vista). It was extremely terrible, and I couldn’t believe this was the same epic game I was playing on my XBOX 360. Not only did Games For Windows Live suck, but split-screen Co-Op was even worse than split screen Co-Op on any game. I finally got decent on XBOX Live, and I love playing on it every day for hours at a time now.
Yesterday
Yesterday a friend came over, and brought Halo 3 with him. Since he is a long time XBOX Live member, we recovered his gamertag, and both logged in. We did split-screen ranked matches, and had a blast. He finally got bored, so I played a little campaign and slayer by myself on Live for a bit. I had the time of my life. I am definitely looking forward to obtaining Halo 3 now.
If you ever run into someone telling you that Halo sucks, ignore them. I used to be that person. In all honesty, I had never played the game. Now I have. I regret waiting so long to play it, because the game is so good. If you have never played a Halo game, I recommend starting with the first one. If you cannot find it, at least get Halo 2, and then finally get Halo 3. You will enjoy not only XBOX Live features, but the great campaign as well.
good write up

I played Halo-boring, boring. Not worth it. Never played Halo 2. I will eventually pick up Halo 3. But I stand by my words when I say that Halo is boring and nothing special. I guess I like a little variety in my gameplay.
