After the success of the “Live-360’s Top 10 Xbox 360 Games” article we decided to break it down to the top five games in each genre. This week is First Person Shooter. The following list is compiled based on graphics, gameplay, story, sound, longevity, innovation, and plain ol’ fun.

#5 Call of Duty 2
This was one of the hit launch titles for the 360 if not the hit at the time. It had a great campaign and was very challenging on veteran but when beaten you get a feeling of completion and getting veteran done with so you could wait a year for the next Call of Duty title to come out. The graphics really showed off the 360’s power at launch as did the 5.1 surround sound, probably the first game to do this the best.
The multiplayer is how the game deserved its spot at #5. This game offered one of the best online experiences on the 360 at the time [minus the lag before the patch(es)]. This has to be around my top 5 played games overall.

#4 Shadowrun
Yep, Shadowrun. The only single player this game offers is the tutorials and some bot challenges, other than that its all online play. Usually you wouldn’t be able to pull this off as people feel they aren’t getting their $60 dollars worth.
I was skeptical when purchasing this game but when i played the demo for over 8 hours I realized that I was addicted. With four different races to choose from (each having their own characteristics), many different spells and tech upgrades to modify your character with really pulled you in.

#3 Rainbow Six: Vegas
Fighting off terrorists in casinos and hotels can hardly ever get old, thats why Rainbow Six: Vegas takes the number three spot. After you got past the first mission in the game it was all uphill from there. The game was very tactile and made you set your teammates up to breach in on one set of doors and you on another to achieve flanking the enemy successfully.
The online play was just as good with a great class system that unlocked weapons as you reached the higher ranks with experience. This was also the first FPS to be able to put your face on the character. The character customization was also pretty deep being able to customize the look and color of each part of your body’s armor.

#2 Halo 3
Halo 3, number two spot??? I bet many of you thought this would be number one but I disagree. Halo 3’s campaign was pretty good, had some memorable moments and the whole thing with the skulls to modify the gameplay. Nothing too special, everyone knows that Halo 3 is for Xbox Live anyways so lets get into that. Fighting through 9 maps and lots of different game variants is pretty fun.
The new innovations in Halo 3 are the saved films which records all your games and stores your last 20 incase you forget to save the film after each game (like in the beta). It’s a very handy feature and I hope that more games use it. Forge is another great feature but isn’t all that unless you buy the DLC where you can basically make your own map with the blank canvas.

#1 Call of Duty 4
The second Call of Duty title on the list. It has an amazing campaign with memorable moments in every mission and every mission being a fun experience with no fillers. Theres also an arcade mode where you go around getting kills and getting points trying to get the top score on the leaderboard.
Once again the multiplayer is where the game really shines. It offers a highly addictive class system that gives you points for each and every kill not by wins with a prestige mode that resets your rank when you hit a full level 55, 16 maps to start off with (DLC on the way) and lots of game types that can be changed and tweaked at anytime by Infinity Ward. It’s truly the best online experience out there with the most to offer, that is why it has been the #1 most played game on Xbox Live for consecutive weeks.
And thats that, Live-360’s Top 5 FPS 360 Game. Thanks for reading and make sure to come back next week when we break the Role Playing Games down to five.
Agree? Disagree? Post a comment and tell us what your top five FPS are.

I would definitely have bumped shadowrun out for Gears of War, if not for anything other than sheer popularity.

Bioshock doesn’t have any replay value. I personally played through once and then i started another story and then got bored of the game cause its the same thing over and over.
