Well I think the obvious three candidates for 2007 Game of the Year are Bioshock, Halo 3 and Mass Effect. To be fair I guess I should add a few games that will be on the PS3 as well *looks over PS3 game list*…….never mind. (If this was GoTY 2008 it would be a different story)
I will post some info on each game then give my opinion on which game will win the award this year. This is obviously purely speculation and opinion. If you do not agree please feel free to share yours in the comments.
1. Bioshock
Lets start with the game that is already out, Bioshock.
Bioshock has already been a huge success it is now ranked 4th all time on Gamerankings.com
Bioshock Description:

2. Halo 3
Halo 3 is obviously the most anticipated game of the year. It has by far received more hype then any game in 07, possibly ever. I don’t think it is any secret that Halo 3 will sell the most copies, draw the most media attention and be played the most for years to come but will it live up to all this hype?
We have already played the beta which as awesome as it was only showed us 3 maps and a few game types. Judging by all the Screen shots, Trailers, and Bungies past it is doubtful that Halo 3 will disappoint.

3. Mass Effect
Bioware the same developer that brought you the hit game Star Wars Knights of the Old Repoblic is as you already know releasing a new game in 2007, Mass Effect. The prospect that Bioware is working on it alone is enough to hype people up for this upcoming RPG.
Game details:
It is your mission. As Commander Shepard of the SS Normandy, you will take your elite recon squad across a galaxy in turmoil, in a desperate race to stop the return of an enemy without mercy. To stop this enemy, you must act without remorse, without hesitation, and outside the limits of the law. Your only imperative is to preserve the safety of civilized life in the galaxy - at any cost. You must become the tip of the spear of humanity, for you alone know the full extent of what is at stake if you should fail.

Which of these great games will get the title of game of the year 2007? Well we are going to have to wait and see but for now here is some speculation.
In my opinion all three games will be great. I think that Bioshock will keep the titled of highest reviews out of the three but the lack of Multiplayer could keep it from the title, Game of the Year. Halo 3 will get the title with its amazing Singleplayer with great Multiplayer to go along with it.

TF2 and HL2Ep2 will be better than BioShock and Halo 3 easily since they’re native PC games. Also, MP3: Corruption on Wii has gotten good reviews. Not to mention CoD4 is still coming, along with Brawl, and Galaxy on Wii, whilist PS3 had no worthy realeases this year.

I, personally think that Mass Effect will be a major dissapointment, and H3 as well. Also I like R&C, Uncharted, UT3, Haze, HS, GT5 Prologue, and Folklore for PS3 this year.

I think the bigger question is what game DESERVES goty. Halo 3 will take it no doubt because of endless hype, and constant praise given by fanboys. Like the writer of this article.
What game actually deserves Goty 2007 though? I’ll give you a hint. Its on the ps3 exclusively this YEAR, which qualifies it as a goty nominee, because we are talking about this year. It will also be on the 360, but have very limited mods, and so far no keyboard and mouse support, and no ideas for cross platform play other than ps3 to pc. Its UT3, if you havent figured it out yet.
Also, why does goty have to be a first party game? There are multiplatform games coming out that look way better than Halo 3 and Mass Effect.
You lose credibility as a gamer, by being a fanboy.

Because I dont think any 3rd party games look as good as Bioshock, ME or Halo3. And I dont think UT3 will come close to getting GOTY lol.

Why does the game have to be first party. If that’s the case Bioshock shouldn’t be up here since it’s also on PC, and sonner or later Halo 3 will be on PC as well.

You dont think it will come close? You may want to rethink what you just said. Gears Of War held the title for GoTY 06, mainly because of its graphics and insane online play.
Now a game with better weapons, graphics, and online play is coming out which has basically the same style except improved, and you think it wont even come close? Like I said, rethink what you just said.
And I agree that BioShock is awesome and probably will hold the title for game of the year, but you have to remember that its not exclusive.
I really doubt you have even looked at the 3rd party games closely enough to judge. Haze looks better than Halo 3, Assasains Creed looks better, Area 51: Blacksite(maybe), Mercinaries 2: World in Flames, Half-Life 2: The Orange Box, and Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, all look to be better than Halo 3. I’m not saying Halo 3 wont be totally awesome, but it probably wont deserve game of the year.
When I say “looks better”, I dont mean in terms of graphics, I mean it in terms of gameplay. And really I dont even know why I’m replying to your post, you’re obviously just a fanboy who only cares about games on your system, and will refuse to play anything thats not on the 360 (or maybe even wii).
The disadvantage on this site for me is that I’m a gamer, not a fanboy, therfore I have both the ps3 and the 360, and will own the wii in december, but I will still get bashed because I like different games than the people on this forum, therfore making me a stupid “sony fanboy”.

CoD4 is gonna be very good… And Crysis have you seen the graphics or though it is PC only. Guess what… i actually dont like Halo 3. Why does it get such good reviews ? because gameing sights like IGN dont dare give it a bad review. Back to CoD4, i think you will find the ORIGINAL CoD is still amongst the most online played PC games. Let alone CoD2.(Cod3 sucked so we leave that) and now we have CoD4… i wouldnt be shocked if i clicked on search for games and saw over 50,000 servers just for TDM.
Youve got assasins creed which just looks awsome. Killzone 2, UT3 and many more.
Fck bioshock and halo 3 and that crap. (Ok Biochock was very good… but game of the year, no way)

ok lets be serious halo 3 is gonna blow away all compettition. there are no games on ps3 or wii that can seriously comprehend even trying to beat halo.i have a wii and i havent played it for the last three months but ive played my 360 evryday since it came out and ps3 hasnt even got one half decent game. im willing to bet an arm and a leg that halo 3 will be game of the year adn that ut3 wont be lol

LOL Vickers…..UT3 will only be good on ONE system and its not a console. Take a wild guess what it is…
As for the 360 GOTY?? Id say Bioshock or Mass Effect.
